Natural versus Organic - Our Philosophy

What is our philosophy about organic and natural - what do we consider the criteria to be? That is a very good - and complicated question for many, but for us, it is simple. We believe in the KISS principle in many areas of our lives (keep it simple Simon - some say stupid, but Mom told me never to call anyone stupid.) First of all - we've changed all of our formulas over to paraben free. This process took many months to accomplish, but we feel it is well worth the effort. Our products are made in small, controlled batches using sterile technique (learned through the school of hard knocks while working as an operating room nurse). Our infusions are DARK concentrated infusions from true organic herbal flowers of chamomile and jasmine green tea, which provides an immense amount of nutritive, nurturing and healing properties to our lotions and creams. We will at times use hydrosols (organic when available) obtained through the steam distillation of essential oils and they retain some of the same properties as the essential oil itself, again adding nutritional benefit to the skin. Our philosophy is about health and healing and not about our profit margins. We can afford to use the highest quality ingredients, take extra time in our formulations and making our products because we don't have a Board of Directors and investors who are demanding that we compromise quality and integrity in order to provide someone else a lot of money. We don't plan to nor do we want to become BIG. Our goal is to offer these quality products at reasonable prices that everyone can afford. Of course, we'd like to be able to pay the bills too...

We use only natural botanical preservatives in our balms and a very small amount of a research-proven and time-proven synthetic preservative in the rest of our products. We actually use a synergy of natural botanicals, essential oils and the preservative so we don't have to use very much. To be very honest with you, although the public is getting better educated about natural and organic, lotions and other products containing water - have to have a good but safe preservative. I'm not going to sell you a product that could begin to go "bad" in a very short period of time just to say I have 100% natural products. I can do this for the balms because they don't have to be fragrance free, but in order to make a really good fragrance-free lotion, you can't add the essential oils and botanicals in the amounts that they need to preserve a product and keep it "unscented". We use research-proven ingredients, as many organic ingredients as we can find and all natural except for the preservative. Our ingredients include the very best in skin care including red raspberry oil, emu oil, organic hemp oil, organic extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, evening primrose oil, Organic jojoba oil , wheatgerm oil, Organic shea butter,, mango, kukui nut , Alpha Lipoic Acid, DMAE, CoQ10, Squalane, MSM and other proven ingredients. And did you notice that our century-proven nutritive butters such as Organic Shea Butter, Mango Butter, and Cocoa Butter are at the top of our list of ingredients, not thrown in at the bottom in small amounts just for "eye candy" and marketing appeal? No, we use these butters in greater quantities and this is why our lotions are naturally thicker than the norm; so thick they can't be poured from a bottle, which also means they are much more emollient, absorb quickly and actually begin to change the condition of your skin. We then blend in therapeutic grade pure essential oils proven over centuries for their naturally anti-aging and cell regenerating properties. We target specific pure essential oils for specific skin types. Our products are made in small batches and dated for freshness. We don't stock a large amount of finished products in order to assure freshness. This means, of course, that your order most likely won't go out for a day or two, but it will be fresh and not something we've pulled off the dusty shelves.
